chicken - Anna Benner, Germany, 8:03, Animated
A woman who is escaping an abusive situation stumbles and finds herself eye to eye with a hen who is in the same situation. Even though they are separated by a fence as well as by species they develop a mutual understanding based on the outward shared symptoms of their pain: sore skin. In the moment of their connection we see flashbacks to the origin of their pain. As the woman smokes a cigarette to calm her nerves, she and the chicken come up with a plan: to set the world on fire to match their burning skin. The fire may be imaginary but nevertheless it soothes and provides catharsis.
Anna Benner is a Berlin based artist and filmmaker. Her work deals with the psychology of the everyday, often using hand-drawn rotoscope animation. Her artworks have been exhibited across Europe; her animated short films have screened worldwide and won prizes at film festivals like Annecy, Encounters and Stuttgart Trickfilmfestival.

I am Her - Rosh Zeeba, Germany, 12:36, Experimental
The film echoes a choir of different female read characters from mythology, fiction and theory. I aim to create a visual imagery that interacts with discomfort (deutsch. Unbehagen) and that shifts positions and rhythms and yet shows imagery and signs that are recognizable.
My imagery consists of my personal archive material that I have filmed and collected: Queer and female/femme sexuality, drag personas, close ups of organic forms, allocated landscapes, footage of female characters in oriental and middle eastern black and white films. The aim is to create a shifted space and to turn hegemonial validities upside down

You Dare - Antonella Desini, Germany, 4:40, Music Video
A woman walks down the street and is judged and/or sexualised by passers-by because of her appearance. When she has to go to the toilet to change her tampon, she sees the usual guy urinating in the street or in Berlin's free public urinals, while she has to pay to use the adjacent public toilet. As if that weren't enough, only credit cards are accepted, which excludes the less wealthy and the less tech-savvy (such as the elderly). Pissed off, she enters the toilet and is transported to an alien dimension as it is a refuelling station for a spaceship. There she will find like-minded people and therefore freedom in both her outlook and her sexuality. She will then return to her own world invigorated and ready for the daily struggles.
Antonella Desini studied film history& critics, video post-production and screenwriting. Over the years she has collaborated on several independent video projects; she is based in Berlin and You Dare is her first music video.

Quines flors es porten a una fossa? (What flowers are taking to a grave?)- Elena Gilda, Spain, Documentary, Experimental 16:18
An experimental documentary-essay that starts from questioning the family story around the death of Joaquima Hernandez Oliver, the author's great-grandmother, who the only information she had about her was that she had died about madness during the Spanish civil war (1936-1939). Through archive images and filmed images, a journey is made through the names, dates and silences until the present, where these genealogies are common in the collective imagination and family histories, leaving the door open to those near futures, difficult to imagine, but easier to understand.
Elena Gilda (Barcelona, 1997) graduated in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona. Since 2017, she began to specialize in the audiovisual and performance field, playing with the limits of these formats and trying to find the cracks to also subvert the hegemonic methods of representation. She investigates and works from a critical and self-questioning perspective on memories, inheritance and power relations.
The balance between irony and the sensitive (personal and collective) are present in her works characterized by images, materials and everyday content.

Conflict of Meanings - Soore Vahe, Iran, 5:00, Experimental
The Tower of Babel was built to unify understanding, but it became a symbol of human fragmentation and conjecture. Even if we live in a common language today, our souls are lost in the ruins of interpretation and translation. The word "pain" is full of meaning; for one, it is a poem of longing, for another, it is a song of sadness. In today's world, humans, like lost poets amid their unfinished poems, search for the meaning of words, but remain endlessly in the embrace of discordant interpretations and rarely dance in the embrace of empathy and absolute understanding of each other.
Soore Vahe was born in Tehran. She graduated from theatre at the Faculty of Fine Arts at Tehran University.

Through my skin - Giorgia Bovo, Germany, 17:05, Dance
A surreal journey in 3 acts through the physical and emotional sensations of a performer’s life. From the transformation of the creative process and the temporary crossing of paths of different energies working together, to the sensation of being watched, while also feeling alone, during a performance. Created and shot in one room in Berlin, the environment changes in each scene as a symbol of the way the dancer’s experience evolves over time. “Through my skin” is choreographed, directed, shot and edited by the same person in order to minimize the layers of separation between the dance and the viewer.
Giorgia Bovo is a dance artist born in Italy, former New Yorker and current Berlin resident. She is a dancer, choreographer and self-taught filmmaker. Often exploring dance on camera through low budget productions, her work gained her invitations to international dance festivals like IDACO NYC, features at relevant institutions like the NYU Langone Medical Center and commissions for music videos.
She created choreographies for acclaimed dance institutions through the US and Europe.
